THE Highways Agency is advising road users of a series of overnight closures on the M45/A45 from Monday 20 until Monday 27 June.
Work is taking place between Thurlaston Island near Rugby and junction 17 of the M1, near Daventry.
Work on the 16-mile stretch of carriageway will take place in two phases - westbound from Monday 20 until Thursday 23 June and eastbound from Friday 24 until Monday 27 June.
All closures are scheduled to be in place from 8pm until 6am to minimise disruption to road users.
For both the east and westbound closures after the first night, the short stretch of carriageway between the A45/M45 junction and the Thurlaston Island will be opened to traffic.
A signed diversion route will be in place. Traffic from the M1 for the M45/A45 westbound will be taken off at junction 16 of the M1 and onto the A45 towards Weedon. It will then follow the A45, cross the M45 and take the B4429 through Dunchurch before rejoining the M45 at Thurlaston Island.
After the first evening the traffic will simply join the M45 from the A45 Daventry Road (missing out the B4429 section of the diversion). The route will work in reverse for the eastbound closure.
Highways Agency project manager, Mark Braithwaite said: “This essential scheme is to renew road markings and studs. Although all work has been scheduled to take place outside of peak hours, we would advise motorists to plan their journeys accordingly.”
