Pantomummers pick up best panto award

Bilton officially put on the best pantomime in the area.

Bilton Pantomummers took the top spot for Alice in Wonderland at the 2012 National Operatic and Dramatic Association West Midlands awards .

The production was named the best pantomime in the district covering Rugby, Nuneaton and Coventry.

Writer and director Laura Davenport, 20, said: “It was such an amazing feeling. We knew the audiences loved it but it was great to get recognition from the judges.”

Artistic director Richard Howarth added: “This is a great achievement. The group was set up as a millennium project to promote the arts in the village and we work so hard to make sure every show offers something that’s fresh, fun and family friendly. It’s a winning formula that attracts big audiences and our cast and backstage crew put so much into it.”
