A busy town centre road has been closed in Rugby as a result of a burst water main.

The stretch of Albert Street leading down to Railway Terrace has been closed off to traffic, with Severn Trent arriving to assess the situation at around 9.30am.

Speaking to the Advertiser, an employee for the company said: “We’ve been called to look at a burst water main. We can’t say for certain but we’ll have to re-tarmac so it will probably be closed for most of the day.”

When asked if residents would have their water supply cut off, he added: “Initially no - it depends what we find. But there is a possibility we will have to.”
