A pedestrian has died after being involved in a collision with a bus in Hillmorton on Saturday.

The crash occurred on Hillmorton Road at around 12.05pm. Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.

A man in his eighties suffered serious injuries and later died in hospital.

A woman in her nineties, who was a passenger on the bus, also sustained minor injuries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a pedestrian and a bus that had been in a collision.

“The pedestrian suffered serious head and neck injuries.

“He received emergency treatment and due to his serious injuries was anaesthetised at the scene.

“The man was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further emergency treatment.”

The red and white double decker bus was travelling from Hillmorton to Rugby town.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or anyone who saw the bus or the pedestrian beforehand to come forward.
