A woman in her 70s has died in hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a collision in Bretford at the weekend.

The incident happened at approximately 4.40pm on Sunday, when a black Jeep Compass and a blue Kia Venga were involved in a head-on collision on the B4455.

Police said the woman, a passenger of the Kia, was airlifted to hospital but died on Tuesday.

The driver of the Kia and the driver and passenger of the Jeep were all taken to University Hospital Coventry by land ambulance.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene and was reopened just before 8.30pm.

Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to the collision. Anyone with information should call PC Rachael Treadwell on 101, quoting incident 304 of Sunday, May 8.
