The Safer Roads Partnership in Warwickshire and West Mercia is today reminding all pedestrians to take extra care on the roads during these darker evenings and early mornings.
Now the evenings and mornings are darker it is increasingly difficult for motorists to see pedestrians. Pedestrians are being encouraged to think about their presence on the roads and wear high visibility clothing and reflective material and to always use pedestrian crossings where possible, especially on multi carriageways and unlit roads. Motorists are also being urged to take extra care and to look out for other road users.
Vicki Bristow, of the Safer Roads Partnership in Warwickshire and West Mercia said: “Sadly three pedestrians have lost their lives in West Mercia over the past four days.
“With the evenings and mornings now a lot darker it is important that all road users are more aware of each other.”
