Person killed by train in Rugby

A PERSON was hit by a train this morning between Lawford Road and Newbold Road.

The identity of the person involved is not yet known by the Advertiser. The incident has affected routes between London Euston, Watford Junction, Milton Keynes Central, Northampton, Long Buckby, Rugby, Nuneaton, Tamworth, Lichfield, Rugley Trent Valley, Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe.

With regards to the disruction, National Rail have said: “The following changes will apply until further notice: Journeys are being delayed by up to 60 minutes, Virgin Trains services are being diverted between Rugby and Stafford via Birmingham.

“London Midland services are being diverted between Rugby and Stafford via Birmingham, or will be starting from or terminating at alternative stations to normal.

“Customers at Nuneaton, Tamworth, Lichfield Trent Valley or Rugeley Trent Valley should travel via Birmingham New Street to connect with trains to and from Rugby, Stafford, Crewe and Stoke-on-Trent. There is currently no service available at Atherstone.”
