Viewers of popular TV quiz show Tipping Point may have seen a man from Wolston scoop the £10,000 jackpot last Wednesday, October 12.

Pete Evans, aged 75, stormed to victory after beating off his competitors and making it to the final round.

He filmed his appearance on the show over a year ago and kept the result a secret from everyone but his family .

Pete said: “I went along with the intention of enjoying myself and at a certain point I thought ‘hmm, I’ll see if I can win 10 grand here’ - and I did!”

He added that the show’s host, Ben Shephard, was keen to congratulate him on his win. “He’s a really lovely chap who paid me a real compliment.

“He said that people assume there’s a lot of luck involved in this show. And there is to some extent.

“But he also said you need a strategy to win, and he told me I employed that strategy perfectly.”
