AN ARTIST is bringing his ceramics to Floor One Gallery in Rugby.

Peter Cosentino’s exhibition titled ‘Surface & Shape’ comprises of some 50 pieces of thrown and slabbed pottery incorporating a variety of work ranging from heavily pitted, ‘volcanic’ surfaces on vases and layered platters, to highly decorative crystalline glazed bottles.

This is the third time that Peter returns to exhibit in Rugby, having exhibited at Our White Room Gallery and The Lewis Gallery in the past. Peter, who was an Assistant Principal at the college in Rugby up until 2006 before taking early retirement to concentrate on his pottery, said: “I have very strong links with Rugby, having attended Bishop Wulstan School as a schoolboy and later working at Rugby College so I am very pleased to be back in Rugby again. My work has always been well received here in the past and I am delighted to have had the opportunity of a solo exhibition in the Floor One Gallery of the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum. My exhibition comprises of all new work which has not been previously exhibited, in fact some pieces are barely cool from being taken out of my kiln!”

Since last exhibiting in Rugby, Peter’s ceramics have been included in exhibitions at a number of prestigious galleries and this year he has also exhibited at Potfest in Cumbria and at Hatfield House.

Peter is also well known for his three pottery books published during 1980s and 90s one of which, ‘The Encyclopedia of Pottery Technique’, has been published in over 9 different countries. More recently he has also had articles published in Ceramic Review, the international magazine for potters and collectors.

The exhibition of Peter’s work is on at The Floor One Gallery, Rugby Art Gallery and Museum, Little Elborow Street, Rugby. CV21 3BZ.

The exhibition commences Tuesday September 18th and runs until Saturday 29th September 2012. Art Gallery and Museum Opening Hours.
