Excited crowds flocked to Rugby town centre on Sunday to see X Factor stars Kingsland Road light up the town.
The popular boyband, who got through to the live finals of the primetime talent show, were given the celebrity treatment for the big Christmas switch-on as one of their members, Connor Conaboy, comes from Rugby.
They were happy to pose for photos with adoring fans before flicking the switch and revealing the brand new festive lights.
Aftab Gaffar, of Rugby First, said the event was the biggest and best yet enjoyed by the people of Rugby.
“It excelled all expectations,” he said,
“North Street was packed with people of all ages having a good time. The atmosphere was amazing.”
Free car parking was provided in the John Barford.
“All the levels ended up full with people coming to the switch on,” added Aftab.
Stage entertainment was hosted by Jason Moss from Rugby FM in the Clock Tower area of the town centre.
Visitors got to meet Santa Claus in his grotto as well as live reindeer.
Aftab said: “The craft fair was well supported and the food fair was also popular.”
Children enjoyed the wide selection of fairground rides and street entertainment on offer.
Aftab said: “The fireworks were nothing short of spectacular.
“Lots of people made a point of saying how amazing they were.”
Festivities were rounded up with Christmas carols in St Andrew’s Church.
“It exceeded all expectations and we’ve had some very positive feedback about the event,” said Aftab.
“We have got a lot to live up to next year.”
