An empty hotel that has been subjected to several arson attacks may be knocked down and turned into apartments.
A planning application has been submitted to demolish the former Imperial Hotel, on Oxford Street, Rugby, and replace it with 14 apartments and a 12-bedroom house of multiple occupancy.
The plans also include 18 car park spaces.
The once popular pub and hotel had been targeted by arsonists on several occasions, with the most recent attack taking place on August 7 this year.
As a result of the fires, the front of the building suffered significant damage.
The Imperial had 18 rooms and ceased operating as a hotel/pub around four years ago, but a number of rooms were let out on a monthly basis up until April 2014.
Agents George and Company stated that marketing of the building had been unsuccessful.
The company’s marketing report said: “Despite a comprehensive marketing campaign, there has been no committed interest in the premises to acquire the property in public house/hotel use.”
