Motorists are being advised to avoid the M6 near Catthorpe interchange following a serious collision.
The collision occurred around 10.48am this morning (Tuesday) on the southbound carriageway of the M6 between junction 1 for Rugby and the slip road to the A14 and involved three heavy goods vehicles and one car.
The northbound carriageway was also closed to allow for the air ambulance to land at the scene but it has since been re-opened.
Motorists intending to travel in this direction are being advised to seek an alternative route or expect delays, local diversions are in place.
Inspector Sean Gormley from Leicestershire Police said: “We anticipate that the southbound carriageway will be closed for sometime to allow officers to carry out a full investigation at the scene.
“We would like to thank those motorists who were unfortunately caught up in the congestion for their patience.”
