POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman arrived home and disturbed burglars attempting to break in to a garage in Bilton Road.

The woman alerted police at around 11.20pm last night (Monday) who arrived within minutes to see two men running through a back garden and over a fence.

A police dog team tracked the route the burglars are believed to have taken from a nearby alley, across the green to Carlton Road where they went through a back garden into Epsom Road. Other Officers also searched nearby roads.

The police helicopter was used to help trace the burglars - one is described as a large build white male with a shaved shiny head wearing a pale orange top.

The second male is described as an eastern European looking white male with short dark hair, wearing a stripey top with a thick black band and a thin white band on it.

Any witnesses are please asked to contact the Acquisitive Crime Team at Rugby on 01926 415000 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Crime prevention manager George Stepney said: “We are asking the public to please stay alert and report any suspicious activity you may notice around your or your neighbours property to the police straight away. If you believe a crime is in progress dial 999.”
