Police have revealed the man who died when he was hit by a train near Rugby station was from London.

The 43-year-old was hit at 6.30am last Friday near Clifton Road bridge by a Virgin train travelling at 125mph.

It is not known whether he jumped from the bridge or was standing on the track, but police are not treating the death as suspicious.

A spokesman said: “Officers are now working to compile a file for the coroner.”

Rugby MP Mark Pawsey is calling for improved safety following the death.
