THE controversial closure of a hospital ward at the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby will be discussed at a public meeting next week.
The meeting will be held at the Town Hall in Rugby to discuss the closure of Birch Ward at the Hospital of St Cross on Friday, December 16 at 2pm.
The hospital ward closed on November 30 after a decision by University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire to save money.
Chairman of the Adult Health and Social Care Overview and Scrutiny, Cllr Les Caborn said: “The purpose of the meeting will be to scrutinise the processes followed by UHCW in relation to reaching its decision. We are not considering any potential outcomes of the proposed changes at this point in time.
“It is a routine measure when a decision of this importance is made for a scrutiny committee to ensure that the public’s best interests are served. We welcome attendance from interested parties and the public so that they can be part of the open process of debating decisions that will affect them.”
Members of the public are invited to attend this meeting and should report to Rugby Borough Council Chamber by 1.50pm on the day. Questions will be accepted at the discretion of the chair and should be forwarded to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01926 418079 before 5pm on Tuesday December 13.
