An employee of a Rugby charity that helps turn around the lives of ex-prisoners has cycled 50 miles to raise funds.

Rachel Hobson, operations manager of Futures Unlocked, pedalled from Countesthorpe to Rugby and back on Saturday.

Rachel said: “We know that crime-free lives contribute to improving communities and the support we provide includes meeting clients at the gate on the day of their release and helping them access housing, employment, training and friendship.

“Over a period of six months, we build trusting relationships with ex-prisoners, encourage and support them in setting goals and improving their own life chances.”

The national average for ex-prisoners re-offending is 58 per cent – but the figure for those involved with the Futures Unlocked project in Rugby is 17 per cent.
