Robbers punched a member of staff at a Tesco Express branch in Rugby before stealing cash from the shop.

The incident happened at about 10.55pm on Saturday in Hollowell Way. Two men entered the store, jumped over the counter and, after demanding money from staff members, punched one in the head and stole a quantity of cash from the till.

They ran out of the main entrance and to the back of the store towards Helvellyn Way where police believe they fled in a silver-colour car believed to be a Ford Focus.

The offenders are described as white men in their late 20s wearing dark, hooded jackets and caps with covered faces. They were both at least 6ft tall and of slim build.

No weapons were used in the incident and no one was seriously injured.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious information in the area on Saturday night, or has any information about the robbers or vehicle, is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting Incident 323 of February 7.
