TWO masked men - one armed with a hammer - threatened a member of staff at a village post office during a robbery at the weekend.

The robbery happened at around 7.10am on Saturday morning at Brinklow Post Office in Broad Street when two men walked into the post office, one armed with a hammer, and threatened a member of staff.

They stole a cigarettes and money from the till, putting the items into a large black hold-all before leaving the store and getting into a vehicle outside.

The men drove down Broad Street and it is then thought they drove off in the direction of Coventry.

The shop assistant was uninjured but very shaken.

Police are now looking for witnesses who saw a dark coloured vehicle, possibly a Ford, in or around the village before or after the robbery.

The men are described as being in their early 20s, and were both wearing dark clothing and balaclavas or scarves over their faces.

Officers are checking CCTV and carrying out house to house enquiries.
