A Rugby man has been crowned East Midlands champion for the third consecutive year, in a national competition to find Britain’s best wet shaving barber.

Shakar Bakani, who works at Mojo Barbershop on Church Street, won the regional heat last month and is now preparing to head to the national finals at the NEC next month.

It will see him take on seven top barbers from across the country on May 22 and 23.

Shakar, who is pictured above left with Rugby MP Mark Pawsey in the barber’s chair, said: “Last year, I was keen to hold onto my regional title at the very least, but to be honest, this year it is no longer enough for me.

“I know that I can win the national title, and I have come extremely close to doing so for the past two years in a row. 2016 is my year, and I fully intend to go all the way to the top.”
