A Rugby charity can now buy new computer equipment, thanks to a donation from bus company Stagecoach.
New Directions, which supports adults with learning difficulties, will put the new laptops in its Community Choices Network day care centre in Tom Brown Street, Rugby.
Andrea Hann, deputy manager at the centre, said: “These laptops will provide local people with learning disabilities the chance to explore computing in order to increase their inclusion in world affairs, improve their skills and develop their community presence.”
Steve Burd, managing director of Stagecoach Midlands, said “We are delighted to support this very deserving project, which plays such an important role.Stagecoach works very closely with a number of disability organisations throughout Warwickshire and Northamptonshire in order to seek to improve the quality of service that we offer.”
The company says it has spent millions on ‘accessible’ vehicles and has adjusted some bus timetables in response to suggestions from disability groups.
