Daring staff at a newly-opened care home in Rugby walked over hot coals as part of a team building day.

The team at Anya Court Care Home, in Dunchurch Road, completed the task for ‘team recognition day’ - an event which is run across all Hallmark Care Homes facilities to thank staff for their hard work.

Hallmark Care Homes managing director Avnish Goyal, and Tosin Ogunnusi, the motivational leader for the day, gave inspirational speeches before the group broke wooden boards, that were an inch thick, using just their hands.

After an afternoon of preparation the team walked across the burning path.

Everyone took it in turns to carefully walk along the coals, greeted at the end by cheering colleagues and a cooling spray for their feet.

General manager, Stephen Neal, said: “Wow, I would never have thought I would be able to break one of those boards or walk across hot coals but I did it.

“I am so proud of all my team, everyone really stepped up and the whole experience has really gelled us a team.”
