Firefighters from Rugby have raised over £400 for the Fire Fighter’s Charity, thanks to the support of residents at their charity car wash last month.

The event which took place on Saturday 16 March was held at Rugby Fire Station between 10am and 4pm. The car wash was a huge success with cars both young and old taking advantage of the firefighters on hand to wash them down and make them look like new again.

Warwickshire Firefighter, John Gregory said: “We had a successful day raising £409.54 for The Fire Fighter’s Charity who provides care, support and rehabilitation for injured and sick firefighters and their families.

“We got stuck into some hard work on the day, but had lots of fun on the way. On behalf of The Fire Fighter’s Charity, I wish to thank everyone who gave up their time and braved the at times appalling weather to do their part in raising this money and I also wish to thank the members of the public for trusting us to wash their cars and supporting our much needed cause.

“Special thanks to Rugby Radio, Tesco Rugby and Asda Rugby for helping us to promote the event.”

The next car wash event is due to take place at Rugby Fire Station on the April 20 between 10am and 3pm. Monies will be split between The Fire Fighter’s Charity and Wellchild, so please come along and pledge your support for your local firefighters, The Fire Fighters Charity and Wellchild.
