With just a week weeks to go two tasty food fayres, planned as part of Rugby’s first food and drink festival, are almost fully booked.
The fayres, taking place on Thursday September 26 in Market Place and on Saturday September 28 in the grounds of St Andrews Church, between 10am and 4pm, are guaranteed to whet your appetite and quench your thirst.
Packed full of delicious and tantalising treats, the two fayres, will offer a great selection of high quality food and drink, from local restaurants, bars, cafes, businesses, farms and producers.
There will also be some locally sourced street food - something which has taken London by storm over the past few years – offering good quality honest food at affordable prices that you can trust, cooked in front of you by entertaining, skilful and passionate food artisans.
On the menu will be gourmet toasties, BBQ baby back ribs, buttermilk fried chicken, paella, wood fired pizza, artisan hot dogs, organic crepes, Thai, Indian, Caribbean, hog roast, vegan and gluten free food – all freshly cooked, sizzling and full of mouth-watering flavours ready to eat.
If that does not tempt you how about award winning cakes, cheeses, meats, fish, fudge, honey, jams, olives, ciders, breads, real ales and lots more.
As the perfect complement to your street dining experience there will also be a pop-up demonstration kitchen, sponsored by Rugby Fitted Kitchens in partnership with Neff built in appliances.
The kitchen, located in the grounds of St Andrews Church, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 11am to 3pm, will showcase a variety of lively, informative and colorful cookery demonstrations over the three days.
Trevor Scott, Director of Rugby Fitted Kitchens (RFK) said: “RFK, Rugby’s longest established independent fitted kitchen showroom relocated to their new, state of the art, showroom on Cottage Leap, Rugby last July and are delighted to be getting involved with the ‘Rugby Food and Drink Festival’ this year. As a Neff 5 star Master Partner RFK are one of the region’s largest suppliers of Neff built in appliances and often host Neff cookery demonstrations at their showroom so this a perfect opportunity for them to reach a wider public audience. Neff will be supplying one of their design award winning Circotherm Slide and Hide ovens, an induction hob and a built in fridge fitted into kitchen furniture supplied by RFK.”
Aftab Gaffar, Rugby First Managing Director said; “We very much appreciate RFK’s sponsorship of the demonstration kitchen in the first year of the festival and are delighted at the interest shown in the two food fayres. The food fayres and demonstration kitchen are just part of the Rugby Food and Drink Festival – we also have the Real Ale trail, a beer bike, a festival ale, some irrestible menus, music, family entertainment and some great food and drink events hosted by local businesses.”
The festival is funded through Warwickshire County Council’s Operation Footfall Campaign.
