Rugby Foodbank has been open just over a year but has already helped 1,626 people, 40 per cent of them children.
Over 50 regular volunteers give their time to the project and over 29 tonnes of food have been donated so far. Demand for its services is also rising month by month, and it hopes to expend food distribution services from June.
Diana Mansell, chair of Rugby Foodbank, said: “Rugby residents have rallied to the needs of their own community. We can’t all give our time or money to the project, but by buying an extra food item and donating it to the foodbank we become part of the solution.” See rugby.foodbank.org.uk
