WHAT IS IT? A Jubilee Promenade Concert with Rugby Male Voice Choir
WHERE AND WHEN IS IT? The Temple Speech Room on Saturday June 9
WHAT DO THEY SAY ABOUT IT?
For this special Jubilee event, in aid of the county’s air ambulance, choirs from Rugby, Coventry, Leamington and Northampton are joining together to create a male voice choir that’s over 100-strong to sing at the impressive Temple Speech Room at Rugby School on the evening of June 9. The Choirs will be joined and supported by the Heart of England Co-operative Concert Orchestra.
This event builds on the very successful 2009 joint Festival of Male Voices concert and is again being organised jointly by The Rotary Club of Rugby Dunsmore and The Rugby Male Voice Choir. It is aimed at giving everyone present a chance to hear a really large male voice choir perform together and with a concert orchestra, with participation in a Promenade Concert finale to round of the evening. Promenaders are encouraged to dress up for the event in post-war style, with a special prize for the best-dressed lady and the best-dressed gentleman.
Over 100 choristers will unite in singing a varied programme of songs – including folk songs, songs from light opera, spirituals, numbers from the shows and promenaders’ favourites. All profits from the evening will be donated to the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.
A commemorative programme will be available, with drinks purchasable during the interval and a special raffle to be conducted before the second half.
