Rugby man dies in a crash on the A5

A Rugby man died following a crash between a lorry and a car at a crossroads near Long Buckby.

The collision happened at about 6.45pm yesterday evening (Monday) near the junction of Long Buckby Wharf on the A5.

A lorry, driven by a 31-year-old man from Coventry, was travelling south on the A5 towards Weedon, when it was in collision with a blue Ford Ka, driven by a 65-year-old man from Rugby.

Northamptonshire Police confirmed the Rugby man died at the scene.

The lorry driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in police custody.
