The man who died in a crash near Rugby last Thursday has been named.

Liam Chidlow from Rugby died on Thursday morning last week after the car he was driving was in collision with a tree.

Liam’s auntie, Julie Beard, said: “His parents are devastated. As you might imagine the family are in bits. If you look at his Facebook he was loved by hundreds, all saying the same thing - always smiling, a great friend and listener. He was also into cars in a big way.”

Liam’s friends gathered at Junction One retail park last night (Sunday) to pay their respects.

Emergency services were called to the A45 near Stretton on Dunsmore at around 4.45am on Thursday.

Liam was declared dead at the scene.

Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or saw the car, and the manner in which it was being driven, before the collision occurred.

Anyone with information is asked to call PC Liam Ryan in Warwickshire Police’s Major Investigation Unit (Roads) on 01926 415415.
