AN ELDERLY couple are too scared to open their windows or doors after their house was shot at.

The back window of Frank and Joyce Robinson’s bungalow had a hole blasted through it at 5.30pm on Saturday last weekend.

“I am too frightened to open the windows or doors even though it has been really hot,” said Joyce, 79.

“You don’t expect this sort of thing when you are just going about your business. I don’t know why anyone would do this.”

Joyce, who is due to have more treatment for her skin cancer soon, added: “This has really shaken me and my husband up. He is due to celebrate his 84th birthday on Friday.”

The couple’s granddaughter Fallon Robinson said whoever is responsible for the shooting in New Bilton is “scum”.

“We have all been so upset by this,” she said.

“I think the people responsible are scum.”

She said she thought the culprits were young people who live nearby.

Fallon added: “Why don’t they think about what they are actually doing before they do it?

“If my nan or my young daughter had been sitting in the back garden the pellet could have hit them in the head.”

The police were contacted and did visit the couple.

“They went to a house where a party was taking place but said the people were too drunk to be interviewed,” added Fallon.

“I think it’s so sad that my grandparents feel they can’t even open their windows and doors because of this.”

She added: “Somebody could have been seriously hurt.”
