Police in Rugby took time out from their pushbike training recently to arrest an 18-year-old man wanted on warrant by Lincolnshire police.

Officers from Rugby’s Priority Policing Area (PPA) team had almost finished their bicycle training in New Bilton on May 3 when they noticed a heavy smell of cannabis coming from inside a car that had just parked up near them.

On seeing the officers a man, who had been a passenger in the car, ran off into the nearby housing estate.

The PPA team quickly pursued him on their bicycles, and were soon joined by officers from the Acquisitive Crime Team and Incident Response.

Nathaniel Dickens, of Langdale Close, Rugby, was apprehended shortly afterwards in New Bilton.

He was arrested and returned to Skegness where he is wanted on warrant by Lincolnshire Police.

Dickens is due to appear in court on May 24 charged with using threatening behaviour.

Deputy Chief Constable Alec Wood from Lincolnshire Police said: “Thanks to the Warwickshire Police officers’ vigilance and prompt action, they were able to return a wanted person to us, for which we are most grateful.”
