Rugby’s first Thai Community Centre opens with array of family activities

THE town’s first Thai Community Centre opens this Sunday and will host a colourful array of family activities.

The centre will be opened by cllr mayor Gwen Hotten at noon at 180 Wood Street, Rugby. Admission is free and everybody is welcome until 4pm. Activities include Thai food and drinks, children’s games, face painting and a bouncy castle. Every Sunday the centre will host Children’s Thai language lessons, Thai dance lessons, Thai meditation, chanting and preying sessions, Thai massage, Tai chi, Yoga and Pilates lessons for Beginners and Thai cookery lessons.

Sunathee ‘Stampy’ Findlay, who has helped set up the centre, is a former newsreader from Thailand and qualified instructor of Thai massage, dance and meditation. She said: “I’ve got a lot of help from my friends in getting this project up and running. I have qualified instructors in pilates, yoga and tai chi and food from Thai House Cuisine - so I’m very excited about getting it underway.”
