THE Rugby Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) is holding a Recruitment Day on Thursday June 9.

The group, who meet on the first Tuesday of each month at the Ex-Servicemen’s Club in Hilmorton, will be having a trailer unit on display at the clock tower in Rugby.

Brian Cockerill, social secretary, said: “The Rugby and District Branch of the RAFA has been active in the town for some 65 years, since it was formed in February 1946.

“The group meet on the first Tuesday of each month when a guest speaker gives a talk on a wide variety of topics, not just aviation related subjects. We also have an active ongoing programme of events, including visits to RAF bases.” Recent trips include RAF Lyneham, the home of the Hercules, and the Royal Flight at RAF Northolt.

Mr Cockerill added: “Although the branch continues to be well supported, we are looking to the future, and are always keen to recruit new members of all ages. Men and women who are ex-members of the Royal Air Force, The Royal Observer Corps, or the Air Training Corps are invited to come along and see what we have to offer.”
