AN ARRAY of fictional characters came to life this week to celebrate World Book Day.

Staff and pupils at a number of schools around Rugby decided to mark World Book Day on Thursday by dressing up as their favourite characters and many spent the day learning about books.

Author Janet Roberts was invited to the Crescent School in Bawnmore Road to talk to the pupils.

She visited with her dog Chico who is the star of her book The Misadventures of Chico Chugg.

Another guest was Jason Moss from Rugby FM.

He visited Hillmorton Primary School on Thursday to read his book Smell and Bogey and the Magic Carpet.

Elsewhere, youngsters at Boughton Leigh Junior School and pupils at Rugby High School all dressed up as their favourite book characters to mark the occasion.

World Book Day aims to celebrate reading, books and authors.
