Police are still searching for two suspects after a man was charged in connection with an attack on a Rugby shopkeeper.

Modestas Vaitkevicius, 25, of Francis Road in Stechford, Birmingham was charged with grievous bodily harm on Sunday. He has been remanded in custody to appear at Warwick Crown Court on Thursday April 23 2015.

The assault happened in Church Street on Tuesday October 28 at 6.40pm. The shopkeeper, a 30-year-old man, was working alone in the store when three white men entered. The men approached the counter and became involved in an altercation with him. One of the men swung a wooden implement at the staff member several times, and another picked up a jar and threw it at his head, causing it to crack on impact.

The three men then left the shop and turned left in the direction of Railway Terrace.

The victim was treated in Walsgrave Hospital for serious injuries.

Police are still trying to identify the two men pictured in connection with the incident.
