Rugby Town has turned to former player James Jepson as the club’s new first team manager.

The club announced the news today, Friday, on Jepson’s 34th birthday as it looks ahead to the 2016-17 season.

A spokesman for the club said: “James, who featured as a player for Valley in 2014, has enjoyed a long and successful non-league career including spells with Kettering Town, Kings Lynn, Gresley, Stamford and most recently AFC Rushden and Diamonds.”

Jepson replaces Dale Belford who guided the club to a ninth place finish in the NPL Division One.

The spokesman added: “James’s first task will be to assemble his backroom staff and start to piece together his squad for next season.”
