A school in Rugby has sold some of its land to housing developers.
Bilton Grange Preparatory School has just agreed the sale of 2.91 hectares of land behind Rugby Road, in Dunchurch, to developers Morris Homes, whose Midlands office is based in Rugby.
The agreement will see the development of fifty high-quality houses and the proceeds will be invested to provide the School with modest endowment income to support the future education of Bilton Grange pupils.
The School has sold the unused land with a contract in place limiting the number of houses which may be built to fifty, in a bid to ensurethe housing density will be in keeping with the local area.
This will be Morris Homes’ flagship development in the Midlands.
Alex Osiatynski, Headmaster of the School, said: “The land sold has not been used by the School in living memory and sits outside the Bilton Grange registered park. Bilton Grange will still retain over 90 acres of heritage parkland and woodland for our children to enjoy as part of their very special Bilton Grange experience.
“Exploring and learning outdoors is a crucial part of our children’s holistic education and our pupils will continue to use our extensive grounds to support their learning.”
