PEOPLE living near to the Warwickshire College site in Rugby are worried about increased vandal attacks.
Councillors Neil Sandison and Jerry Roodhouse are calling on the college and Warwickshire County Council to make the Lower Hillmorton site secure.
There are also fears about travellers descending on the grounds as the building closes down.
Cllr Roodhouse, who is a borough and county councillor, said: “I’ve already met with the college and it was a positive meeting but I am disappointed in the slow reaction to making the boundary secure.
“The fence has been damaged for a while and we are seeing it being targeted more.”
He added: “More action is needed now.”
Cllr Sandison added: “We hope they will act before we see increased damage.
“Both the county council and college have said they will listen to local people.”
He said now they need to carry out their promises.
A spokesperson from Warwickshire County Council said: “We have listened to the concerns of local residents and we are working closely with the college to make sure that the site continues to be secure from the risk of vandalism.
“The college have a comprehensive security system in place and steps will be taken to ensure that this remains the case when the property has been vacated.”
