A total of seven candidates are standing for a Rugby Borough Council by-election in the Bilton ward.

Bilton was previously represented by Craig Humphrey, former leader of the council, until he resigned as councillor and leader to take a managing director job at a company in Coventry in August.

The seven candidates are: Julie A’Barrow (Conservative), Kate Crowley (Green), Gordon Davies (UKIP), Lesley George (Liberal Democrats), John Herman (Independent), Pete McLaren (Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition) and John Wells (Labour).

The by-election will be held on Thursday November 6.

The council is currently controlled by the Conservative group.

There are 23 Conservative councillors, 10 Labour, 7 Liberal Democrat and 2 Independent.

The borough council is responsible for services including housing, rubbish collection and parks.
