Seven stars is best pub in the West Midlands

The Seven Stars is officially the best pub in the West Midlands according to the midlands’ branch of Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

The pub, which was refurbished in 2012 and reopened under the Banks & Taylor brewery, now has a chance to go on and win Camra’s prestigious National Pub of the Year Award. Since it re-opened the Seven Stars has already won two awards from Rugby’s Campaign for Real Ale: Most Improved Pub and Pub of the Year.

Ryan Ashley, landlord, said: “I’m obviously delighted about this, it’s fantastic to be recognised in this way. With its great real ale pubs, I honestly think Rugby is one of the best drinking towns in the country for the real ale experience.”

The overall UK winner is due to be announced in March 2014. Roger Protz, editor of the Good Beer Guide, said: “Our guide is the most up to date guide to real ale pubs in the UK and is compiled solely through independent judgement. Unlike other guides which charge pubs to feature, the ours lists pubs on their merit alone and doesn’t charge anyone for entry. If you’re a lover of real ale and want to know the best places to drink ale, this is an invaluable resource.”
