Fire crews rescued a sheep who had a fallen into the river at Kings Newnham on Wednesday morning.

They were called to the river near the fishing pools in Kings Newnham Lane, between Kings Newnham and Church Lawford, at 10.30am.

A fire engine, along with a specialist large animal rescue unit were mobilised from Rugby Fire Station.

Fire fighters assisted the sheep from the river using a large hook and it was left uninjured with the owner.
