Shop assistant assaulted during garage robbery at Murco in Lawford Road

A member of staff at a Rugby was assaulted during a robbery at a garage in Lawford Road.

The robbery happened at the Murco Service Station in Lawford Road shortly before 1am yesterday morning (Wednesday).

Two men forced their way into the forecourt shop where they assaulted the assistant and made him open the till.

The robbers then stole money and cigarettes.

They are described as white males wearing hoodies pulled over their faces.

One male was wearing a grey jacket and the other a black or dark grey jacket and black gloves.

They ran off along Pinfold Street.

Local enquiries have been made and CCTV footage is being examined.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the vicinity late last night or early this morning, or who saw a small silver hatchback in Pinfold Street.

Earlier this month a female member of staff was assaulted in the Co-op in Lawford Road during an attempted robbery.
