Rugby Disability Forum believes the scheme will help hundreds of people in the area and boost trade in the town centre.

Users do not have to be registered disabled and anyone of any age can rent a scooter, including those with a temporary injury.

A yearly membership costs £15 with scooter hire costing £3 a day. The service will operate five days a week with closures on Wednesday and Sunday.

It is based in the unit next to the Dunelm escalators.
