SOLDIERS’ charity Afghan Heroes has received £1,200 thanks to the skydiving exploits of Geraint James and joinery firm Howdens.

Geraint received £400 from Howdens for the 15,000ft plunge earlier this month.

The rest of the money was donated by friends and family.

As well as the skydive, Geraint also took part in the Mothers’ Day Ride to Wootten Bassett, which raised £237,000.

Geraint said: “The skydiving experience was absolutely brilliant.

“It’sd efinitely one of the best thing I’ve ever done.

“It wasn’t as scary as I’d feared because I didn’t have time to think.

“One moment all the safety checks were going on and the next I was outside of the plane.”

He added: “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has sponsored me or given me any support.”
