St Peter and St John’s Church hosted some special visitors earlier this month.

Anne and Andrew Davenport were guests of honour at the Rugby church where Anne’s father, the Rev Norman Sherwood Jones had been curate from 1937 to 1941.

They came to see the ‘East Window’ which is now a focal point in the church.

Many local people had paid to have the window installed in Norman’s memory after he died from typhoid in Nigeria in 1951.

The window has been in place for 60 years this year.

Anne and Andrew (pictured) now live in Croydon, and wanted to see the window for themselves.

The Rev Sheila Bridge said she was delighted to welcome the couple.
