A specialist swim centre welcomed a popular mascot to its water safety session.

Stanley, the friendly water safety mascot of the Swimming Teachers Association, visited Swim Works in Hillmorton on Monday as part of the UK Water Tour designed to help children learn about keeping safe in and around the water.

Jo Wilson, of Swim Works, said: “With summer just around the corner, it was vital that they reinforced the message about water safety in a fun and accessible way. With accidental drowning being the third highest cause of death in youngsters, teaching children about water safety is absolutely essential.

“We are delighted that Stanley chose to visit Swim Works as he is only going to a few swim schools across the UK.”

Zoe Cooper, STA’s Head of Accounts, added: “Our annual water safety campaign is an essential part of our educational programme, especially coming up to summer.

“Our loveable mascot Stanley is always very popular wherever he goes and we know he has a positive impact on children, which helps to drive home the message about water safety in a fun way.”

Swim Works has fun activities planned to promote the water safety message in and around the swim centre during lessons.
