The high winds on Tuesday brought a tree down into a main road through a village near Rugby.

At around 5.30pm yesterday a large tree was blown over by the winds into the road at Long Buckby Wharf, bringing down a power line.

The tree also damaged a property and narrowly missed a car.

Long Buckby Wharf resident Rod Wyles said: “Power was restored and the fallen tree cleared by Western Power Distribution after six hours.”
