FIREFIGHTERS in Rugby received a knock on the station door yesterday (Sunday) when a large tree blew down right outside the building.
Crews leapt into action after the tree fell down into the road at around 1pm yesterday.
Police shut the road while firefighters removed the tree.
Rugby firefighters Sean Bostrom said: “We were training in the station and we had a knock on the door. We thought ‘we better deal with this’. We had to ring control to get the ok before we went out.
“We went out and put some very strong looped ropes onto the tree and tied them to the back of the fire engine.
“No one was hurt so it was a happy ending.
“It’s always very windy in that area. I’m surprised it hasn’t happened sooner.”
