THERE were miles of smiles at Rugby Spring Fair on Monday.

Thousands of fair-goers had a fun and entertaining time at the annual charity event at Whitehall Recreation Ground.

The event was organised by the Rugby Club of Rugby, Rotary Club of Rugby Dunsmore and Rotary Club of Rugby Saturday Breakfast.

Organisers say it was one of the best yet, raising around £15,000 for Rotary and local charities.

Mike Beck, PR officer for Rotary Club of Rugby Dunsmore, said: “It was a wonderful day.

“The sun was shining and there was good humour in the air.”

Attractions included charity stalls, the Rugby’s Got Talent competition, Army cadets, sea cadets, classic car displays, games and funfair rides. Rugby mayor Don Williams greeted crowds.

“We had an award-winning MGB sports car that was very popular,” said Mike.

“The donkey rides were really popular. Rugby FM really drew in the crowds too.”

Asda sponsored the event, giving the day a royal wedding-themed area for children and a food sampling tent.
