RUGBY First Responders have been given £2,000 from a town supermarket.
The cheque will be the first of many to come from Sainsbury’s over the next year after the supermarket the chose Rugby First Responders as its chosen charity of the year.
The money was raised through a series of fundraisers at the Dunchurch Road store including a book sale and games.
One Sainsbury’s employee even sold a number of items from her house after her daughter moved out to go to university.
PR ambassador Rachael Fordham said: “This is the first cheque we’ve given them so far.
“There will be lots more to come.”
The responders are a volunteer group who attend 999 calls alongside the ambulance service.
