Suspected burglars arrested in police chase thanks to neighbour in Long Itchington

THREE men have been arrested after police were called to a suspected burglary in progress in Long Itchington.

Officers were called to Short Lane in Long Itchington at 11am yesterday (Thursday) by an alert member of the public.

The men, who were believed to be breaking into the back of a property, fled the scene.

Officers were immediately dispatched to the area to try to intercept the silver vectra they were believed to be driving. The car was later involved in a collision in Wolston and the occupants ran off.

Following a search of the area, a police dog team arrested two males in a shed in a nearby back garden. A third male was arrested nearby.

One of the males was taken to George Eliot Hospital for treatment to a dog bite before he joined the other two males in the custody block at Nuneaton Justice Centre.

Following questioning, the three males who are aged 15, 24 and 37 years old from Coventry were released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries.
