Take a ‘selfie’ at the Clock Towers in Rugby World Cup competition

With less than a month to go until the biggest tournament in international Rugby kicks off on home soil, shoppers in Rugby are being invited to show their support - by taking a ‘selfie’.

The Clock Towers shopping centre, together with in-centre retailers Brighthouse, B&M and Webb Ellis, are offering one lucky winner from the Rugby area the opportunity to win what they are terming “the ultimate home viewing experience” in time for England’s first game on September 18.

The winner of the centre’s #HakaSelfie competition will win a new 42ins LED HD television, as well as £50 worth of lager and four new England rugby shirts.

Anyone over 18 can enter and all they have to do is take a picture of themselves, a group of friends, family or event pets, pulling a ‘Haka’ pose and posting it on the Clock Towers Facebook page, Tweet @shopclocktowers using #hakaselfie or enter online. The picture that judges consider to be the most fun and creative will win.

Clock Towers has also had support for its countdown campaign from local rugby teams Newbold and St Andrews, as players posed in front of the centre’s clock. From St Andrews, a selection of players from the ladies, minis and juniors turned out to take on the Newbold Falcons and new team Rugby Barbarians.

Centre manager Robin Swift said: “We’re so excited that the World Cup is being played on home soil this year and as the place where rugby was first invented, we’re doing everything we can to encourage the Rugby community to get behind the sport and our boys in white.

“The #hakaselfie competition is a fun way to get involved and it’s a brilliant prize, one I’m jealous I can’t win myself. As the Haka is an iconic part of rugby, it only seemed fitting - plus we’re going to have great fun judging all the entries.”

Clock Towers will also be supporting the England team throughout their campaign with a ‘guess the score’ competition in the centre, more details of which will be released nearer the time.
